Trong đó VFW/ACM codecs và bộ lọc DirectShow dùng để mã hóa và giải mã (khi chơi) các file audio và video. K-Lite Codec Pack được thiết kế với giải pháp chơi file media thân thiện với người dùng. Hiện nay K-Lite Codec Pack có tất cả 5 phiên bản, bao gồm basic, standard, full, coporate và mega:

Bản basic chỉ đơn thuần chứa các codec cho các file video. Bản này có kích thước nhỏ nhất, thích hợp cho những ai không muốn lưu trữ nhiều.
Bản standard bổ xung thêm chương trình chơi nhạc Media Player Classic và hỗ trợ DVD tốt hơn. Bản này dành cho người dùng trung bình.
Bản full bổ xung nhiều chức năng hơn, bao gồm việc hỗ trợ playback cho 1 số định dạng file audio (lossless), nó cũng chứa thêm codec VFW/ACM có thể làm bộ mã hoá. Bản này thích hợp cho người dùng chuyên nghiệp.
Bản coporate là phiên bản đặc biệt dành cho các doanh nghiệp. Chúng gần giống như bản full, nhưng loại trừ 1 vài chức năng nhỏ, tuy vậy vẫn rất mạnh mẽ. Nó tuân thủ đúng luật mã nguồn mở.
Bản mega là phiên bản mạnh nhất, bao gồm đầy đủ các chức năng như bản full và cộng thêm codec Real Alternative dùng để chơi các file nhạc RealPlayer.
